Amber Mercer
M.A, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Fort Langley
As a fellow human being, I am intimately acquainted with my own experiences of pain. As a therapist, my heart is devoted to accompanying others on their journey so that they may not have to navigate their pain alone, understanding that suffering is often compounded when endured in isolation.
As a counsellor, my intention is to journey alongside you, to create a space that holds the potential for something different. A space where healing is possible, where you can connect with yourself and others in authentic and honoring ways.
You will find my work is:
Collaborative
You are the expert on you. No one has as many hours logged with you as you do. I am here to listen, support you, offer guidance, and hold onto hope in times when you find it difficult.
Holistic
As the therapist my aim is to see what it is like for you in this world. I strive to be curious with all aspects of your being. Your emotional, mental, relational, spiritual, and somatic (bodily) experiences. Together, we can explore how to access the wisdom of your body and mind to promote healing and well-being.
Relational
As a therapist my core belief is that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, especially when life feels overwhelming and uncertain. What matters to me is being right here with you. There is healing potential in connected and attuned relationships. Just as relationships can often be the source of our pain they can also be in part the source of our healing and growth.
My clinical practice is grounded in being client centered and trauma informed. I work from an emotion, body focused, neuroscientific, and attachment framework. My areas of practice include relational trauma, identity, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, boundary setting, self-compassion, assertiveness, communication, relational concerns and more.
My specialized training includes emotion focused, somatic, attachment, and parts work. I utilize modalities such as Accelerated Experiential Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) Somatic-Attachment Relational therapy (SAP), Core Self Reclamation Therapy (CSRT).
It would be my honor and privilege to walk alongside you as you courageously step into the profoundly meaningful work of counselling.
