Hello! My name is Millie Batta (she/her) and I am an RCC at Shoreline Counselling. Going to counselling is much like taking a road trip. You are the driver and I am the passenger in the front seat. As the passenger, I provide directions and help you navigate life’s challenges, but ultimately you are behind the wheel and decide the road we take. It would be an honour to be able to support you on this journey to growth and healing.
I recognize that seeking counselling can be a vulnerable step that requires courage and strength. With this in mind, I consider counselling to be sacred space and strive to provide a safe and non-judgemental atmosphere. I focus on creating a collaborative and trusting relationship, where people feel seen and heard in each session. I work to empower individuals as we collectively work towards your goals of change in a way that resonates with you. On this path to empowerment, my goal is to help you discover tools and build your personalized toolbox to live a meaningful life.
I completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Integrated Sciences from the University of British Columbia, in which I gained an understanding on the relationship between the human body and behavior. With my passion for learning, I will continue to seek additional training in order to expand and apply my clinical knowledge and skills.
The foundation of my work is based on a client-centred approach, where authenticity, acceptance, and empathy are the pillars of my counselling practice. Alongside, my lived experiences as a first-generation Indo-Canadian have helped me appreciate individual experiences and unique values. I believe therapy should reflect such diversity; thus, I work to tailor my approach to work in your best interest.
