I have always enjoyed connecting with and learning from others. This has driven my passion for mental health support for many years. Prior to completing my degree, I frequently sought out work and volunteer positions that involved supporting others. During all of these experiences I was honoured to hear about and witness the strength and resilience of others and support someone in part of their life journey. This path eventually led me to do my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto.
I aim to enter into relationships with new clients with empathy and compassion. My approach is trauma-informed, holistic and person-centered. I like to pull from the training I have in a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I enjoy being creative and building a therapeutic experience that makes sense for each unique person. Individuals that I have worked with range in age from 6 to 65, who have come seeking help with challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family conflict, interpersonal relationships, grief, gender identity, stress management, sexual assault and trauma.
I believe that a trusting and supportive relationship combined with self- compassion and a better understanding of yourself can create impactful change. My goal is to help you reinforce your strengths and build on them while exploring new or long -term challenges together in a space and relationship that is safe, supportive and dedicated to your well-being.
As you make the decision to try therapy, know that this is a brave step that isn’t always easy to make. You do not have to walk the whole way alone, and I’d be honoured to support you through part of your journey. I look forward to welcoming you to a non-judgmental and compassionate place at Shoreline Counselling.
