Registered Clinical Counsellor
Fort Langley
Prior to working towards my Master’s in Counselling Psychology, my previous education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Human Ecology in Family Social Sciences both from the University of Manitoba. I took a break from my professional work when I had my kids, I have spent the last 9 years building our new community in British Columbia, raising my kids with the same skills that I apply in my practice, and returning to education in counselling with the clear intentions of supporting and guiding you in your own path for self-discovery.
I have experience in crisis counselling and case management for community and housing programming with adults, training that has come through in my approach for creating genuine relationships and offering non-judgemental empathy. I have always been interested in establishing a deeper understanding of our life experiences and their impacts on the development of our personal relationships. Perhaps this stems from my own experience with grief, self-exploration, and reflection but it has developed into the foundation of my appreciation for the strength and resilience that we all share within our unique journeys.
My approach for our sessions is to focus on person-centered and strength-based models that incorporate cognitive behavioural therapy and encompass an authentic and collaborative relationship. As your counsellor, I hope to establish a therapeutic alliance where you welcome me to sit with you in moments of experiencing difficult emotions and processing experiences in a shared space. I look forward to taking these steps alongside you, offering support and guidance, as you go through your own journey of reflection and growth.
