Hello! Whatever the reason for starting a counselling journey, finding the right therapist to work with is an important step. Some people are looking for skills and strategies to cope with a specific problem, others are looking for a space to process their deeper emotions or experiences; in all instances I offer a trauma-informed, judgement free, and holistic approach to therapy. My approach incorporates a wellness lens that takes into account systemic, oppressive, historical, and relational factors in addition to your individual experience at this moment.
The clients I work with tend to be seeking therapy for some of the following reasons:
Trauma - single or multiple incident events, PTSD, C-PTSD, PTSS, or who have been impacted by natural disasters.
Complex family of origin experiences or intergenerational trauma.
Workplace or caregiver burnout / compassion fatigue - caring for employees, children, parents, or other family members.
Parenting a child with ADHD, substance use, emotion dysregulation, or serious mental health concerns, especially those caregivers who are also in the 'helping' professions.
Grief / loss (relational or life transitions).
Anxiety / depression / stress.
Experiences of abuse / victimization / systemic oppression.
Complex, unresolved relational patterns.
I draw upon a wide range of therapeutic approaches which allows me to tailor a unique counselling experience according to the needs and wishes of each client. Some of the modalities for which I have received specific training include:
Narrative Therapy / Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) / Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) / Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy (IFOT) / Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Processing (AEDP) / Gottman Therapy / Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) / Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
